I find most people on the North Shore quite friendly. I go to a local gym here, so the ladies here are very friendly, but the last time anyone did something especially kind, to be honest I can’t think of anything.

Yes I’m a very kind person. So, I would help a mum from school look after their children while they go out and do whatever they go and do. I’m quite happy to look after their children. Also, another mum from the same school my daughter goes to; they’re very friendly and they will have my daughter if I need to go to work, and I can’t get back to pick up my daughter from school in time. So, I guess that’s really kind. They don’t ask for anything in return. So, yeah I guess that’s probably the kindest thing that’s happened.

Kindness is very important, yes. Yes, because if I can’t get to school to pick up child in time, if people aren’t kind enough to say, hey it’s fine, I’m getting my child anyway, I’ll grab yours, call me when you’re finished. If that didn’t happen, if they weren’t kind enough to do that you’d be, like I’m a single mum, so I’d be left fretting about my child, and where is she and, so that’s really kind.

Yeah, I’ve just come up from the South Island, so I’ve just been in Auckland seven months.

I decided to move my daughter and myself up to Auckland, because there’s more opportunities for work up here. We’re both interested in TV work. So I’m with the talent agent, and I do background, extra work. I’m doing an acting course at the moment, so I’m trying to get a bit more experience and I’d like to act, and speak in front of the camera, and have a role to play. So, we just moved up here, because there’s more opportunities in that area.

Friendship is what I valued most when I was growing up. My parents weren’t very kind. I really liked to go to my friend’s house, and hang out with them, because they were always lovely. I didn’t like my mum’s cooking, so I didn’t eat my mum’s food a lot, and my friend’s parents would just feed me all the time. They were always like, you’re too skinny, you need to eat.

I’ve been here seven months, and that’s one thing I’m finding quite hard at the moment, is to really connect. People are really busy. They have families and they have jobs, and I’m at an age now where a lot of people have already, they’ve got their children and they’ve got their families. It’s quite hard to, yeah break into their lives, I guess. So I’m, I would really like to meet some people and be friends. Yeah, so friendship is what I valued most when I was a kid.

I’m really trying hard to find some really nice like minded people, which is quite hard, because like I said, everyone’s got their own lives. Everyone’s busy doing stuff. So, yeah kindness, friendship, and people wanting to know who you are and where you come from, and what you’re about and listen to your story, I guess.”

That was amazing."
