“The reason I’ve come over to Onehunga today is because a very long time ago I used to stay here as a little boy, seven of us, and basically just coming back to have a look if things have kind of changed, and it has dramatically.

When was the last time I had fun? I think for myself when I actually have fun I make sure that people are looked after. It’s really good to hear their actual pleasures of them being themselves, and that makes me happy inside. It’s a very, very good question, actually. I think fun is about families, for myself, and being around families, and whatever you do, you’re making history, and it’s fun making it together. I suppose you would correlate that with your friends, as I would normally go out with them fishing. It’s a big highlight for me, just the actual boys getting together, also with the families getting together as well, and that’s fun.

I suppose growing up here in Onehunga, or coming from Tauranga, [I] had about five brothers, including myself, and one sister. [My] sister and brothers went to Penrose High. I went to Te Papapa School back in those days; I don’t know what it’s called now, but from there to Manukau Intermediate, and that’s also changed, too so I’ve been told. For me, I suppose if you asked me what is life, I always tell myself that life is, the meaning of life means it will end eventually. So, you need to go out there and just do what needs to be done. I think having passion in your life will correlate with actual fun coming inside to it. If there’s no passion in what you do, there’s no fun in doing it.

I can’t really tell you much what I actually do, but my passion is making sure people are okay – they’re fine, as well as things are supposed to be. It’s supposed to run, it’s the way it is, unless you’ve been told otherwise.”

What, if anything, have you done differently after visiting this site?
